about · the person behind the studio
The person you talk to is the person doing the work.
Digital Anchor is led by me, Brendan O'Connell, a San Diego developer and automation specialist. No account managers, no ticket queue, no juniors learning on your website.
The short version
I've spent years inside the systems behind small-business websites: WordPress when it fits, modern stacks like Astro and Cloudflare when they fit better. Most of my work starts the same way, with a site that technically exists but fights its owner, and ends with a system one person is actually responsible for.
Along the way I've migrated sites off dying platforms without losing the rankings they'd earned, untangled plugin stacks nobody dared update, built research catalogues with no database to maintain, and produced live video for churches, nonprofits, and conferences. The common thread is unglamorous: understand the whole system, then make it boring and reliable.
I also teach what I build. My YouTube channel covers WordPress, n8n automation, and AI-assisted development for almost 13,000 subscribers, and the blog here carries the written versions. This site is itself the stack I recommend: WordPress-era content rebuilt on Astro, served from Cloudflare, built in the open.
For larger projects I bring in trusted collaborators instead of forcing every problem through a bloated agency model. You get senior judgment on every decision, and you always know who's responsible.

How the work goes
- 01
Diagnose
Figure out what is actually wrong, and what is quietly working, before touching anything.
- 02
Stabilize
Backups, updates, security, and the urgent fixes first, so nothing gets worse while we plan.
- 03
Rebuild
Rebuild what needs rebuilding, without losing the rankings, content, and forms that already work.
- 04
Maintain
Hosting, updates, monitoring, and someone to call. The site stays handled after launch.
- 05
Improve
Steady improvements over time, instead of another panicked redesign in three years.
What I believe about this work
You own everything
Code, domain, content, every account. Nothing I build holds you hostage to me.
The right tool, not my favorite tool
WordPress when it fits, a lighter stack when it fits better. I recommend what serves you, not what is easiest to sell.
One person who is accountable
You will know who is responsible for your site, and you will have their number. No ticket queue, no handoff to a stranger.
Straight answers
If a fix is simple, I will say so. If you do not need me for this, I will tell you that too.
